Graduate intake comes good in management shakeupIMG Composites is reaping the benefits of previous investment in graduate development as two members of staff recruited straight from university move into management positions. In March of 2011 John Rae was promoted to Operations Manager and Ian Taylor was promoted to Business Development Manager. The two joined IMG Composites and immediately engaged in intensive developmental training during a management apprenticeship, which involved exposure to director level guidance and a broad range of relevant international experience. John Rae graduated from Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University and Ian Taylor graduated from the University of Glasgow. As CEO Brian Whytock outlined, ‘a good quality university education gives graduates an analytical and methodical approach to work, which makes them well suited to management roles. However, there is still no replacement for industry experience and this is why we ensure that our management graduates have hands on experience of all aspects of our business.’ Over his 32 months of training Ian obtained a broad experience of the company by working within the operations, technical and business development departments of the business. Since recruitment John Rae has engaged in many projects and has managed all aspects of operational projects, including offshore onsite supervision as well as onshore office base project co-ordination. Graduate recruitment continues at IMG Composites and new recruits will continue to be developed into future assets for the company. |
